I wish everything I am reporting on were not true, or at least were less true than it appears. It does seem that Japan is in the process of contaminating the entire Pacific Ocean via continued uncontrolled releases of radioactivity at Fukushima. After low-balling initial estimates of radiation releases, the Japanese authorities now acknowledge that substantial amounts of radioactive material leaked from the crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi reactors. The gut is beginning to give up its secrets. Trillions of bacteria live in the large intestine, and it’s well known that many of them help us digest food and make certain vitamins. But as precise technologies allow us to sequence the DNA and RNA of our gut flora, as well as inhabitants of the gut not previously known, new insights are rapidly emerging into the power of gut flora to influence health. (See the June 2011 FOCUS). Herein, an update on some fascinating new links between gut flora and health. (more…)
Pretreatment with intravenous vitamin C and other oral antioxidants has been demonstrated once again to provide significant protection against radiation poisoning and cancer. Dr. Atsuo Yanagisawa, M.D., Ph.D., from the Japanese College of IV Therapy recently conducted a study which found that Fukushima workers who underwent a high-dose vitamin C pretreatment prior to handling radioactive debris during cleanup efforts were protected against DNA damage and cancer. Back in December, a press release was broadcast to the media about a peer reviewed study conducted by Joseph J. Mangano and Janette D. Sherman (M&S) that claimed that at least 14,000 people (with a special focus on children under the age of one) had died in the U.S. during the 14 weeks following the Fukushima disaster. At the time, I ignored the study for several reasons.

“It is clear that dilution is not the solution to pollution. Dumping radioactive contaminated materials into bodies of water has a boomerang effect. It is not long before the ionizing radiation is washing back up on riverbanks and shorelines.” – Geoscientist Leuren Moret, 2008 (more…)
One would not normally think that magnesium deficiency can increase the risk of cancer yet we will find that just as severe dehydration or asphyxiation can cause death, magnesium deficiency can lead directly to cancer. It is known that carcinogenesis induces magnesium distribution disturbances, causing magnesium mobilization through blood cells and magnesium depletion in non-neoplastic tissues. Magnesium deficiency is carcinogenic, and in the case of solid tumors, a high level of supplemented magnesium inhibits carcinogenesis.
Researchers from Japan’s National Cancer Center in Tokyo have found that an increased intake of magnesium reduces a man’s risk of colon cancer by over 50 percent. Several studies have shown an increased cancer rate in regions with low magnesium levels in soil and drinking water. In Egypt the cancer rate was only about 10 percent of that in Europe and America. In the rural fellah it was practically non-existent. The main difference was an extremely high magnesium intake of 2.5-3g in these cancer-free populations, ten times more than in most western countries.
For all of these reasons and a hundred more, magnesium oil remains the number one item in my cancer protocol and thus number one for radiation exposure. Magnesium is our first line of defense against both.
It is in a list of medicinals that prevent and treat
cancer that we find helpful substances that treat
and strengthen us against radiation contamination.
“In the years leading up to Chernobyl, some dairy farmers in Austria were using remineralization as a part of their operations. They added rock dust to liquid manure as well as combining it with compost, thereby removing odors and greatly increasing soil biota. As a result, cows had twice the normal lifespan and produced much more milk. Amazingly enough, after Chernobyl, the cheeses that were remineralized (as well as biodynamic cheeses) measured no radioactivity whatsoever. Austrians would stand in long lines in order to buy these safe, remineralized products,” writes Joanna Campe.
1. Buy a low-radiation phone.
When you pick up your phone and make a call, that call is transmitted and received via the phenomena of electromagnetic waves.
In 2009, it was estimated that more than 4 billion people used cell phone technology (ITU 2009). However, because this technology has only been around for about twenty years, scientists do not fully understand the repercussions and long-term risks associated with cell phone radiation emissions.
As time passes, newer and more advanced phones, such as the more popular smartphone models, are being developed with increasing degrees of cell phone radiation emissions.
The Environmental Working Group, a team of scientists, educators, engineers, and lawyers, is a public health lobby group that gets quite a bit done in United States legislature by making little known public health concerns more public. Consult their buyer’s guide for a low-emission phone and consider replacing yours with one that they recommend. EWG Buyer’s Guide: http://www.ewg.org/cellphoneradiation/Get-a-Safer-Phone
A renowned nuclear activist has said the crisis at Japan’s Fukushima nuclear complex brought on by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake and resultant tsunami March 11 is much worse than the atomic disaster at the Chernobyl plant in the former Soviet Union in 1986.
Dr. Helen Caldicott, at a March 18 Montreal press conference where she talked about the dangers of atomic war, discussed a wide range of nuclear-related issues she says are having profound effects on Europe, the U.S. and Japan – just a week after the quake crippled at least two of the site’s six nuclear reactors, which resulted in the release of radioactive materials.
