Even though more attention is usually given to their delicious oil than the whole food itself, olives are one of the world’s most widely enjoyed fruits. Yes, they are fruits even though most of us think of them as zesty vegetables. Here are 10 reasons why you should be eating these little delicacies every day.
1. Cardiovascular Benefits
When free radicals oxidize cholesterol, blood vessels are damaged and fat builds up in arteries, possibly leading to a heart attack. The antioxidant nutrients in black olives impede this oxidation of cholesterol, thereby helping to prevent heart disease. Olives do contain fat, but it’s the healthy monounsaturated kind, which has been found to shrink the risk of atherosclerosis and increase good cholesterol. When diets low in monounsaturated fat are altered to increase the monounsaturated fat content (without becoming too high in total fat), research study participants typically experience a decrease in their blood cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and LDL:HDL ratio. All of these changes lower our risk of heart disease. (more…)
Broccoli contains a very powerful anti-cancer, anti-diabetic and anti-microbial called sulforaphane. It is obtained from cruciferous vegetables and abundant in broccoli. A daily dose of broccoli might prevent dozens of diseases before they even have a chance to start.
In one study at Johns Hopkins, researchers and an international team of scientists showed that eating a daily dose of broccoli sprouts reduced by more than 40 percent the level of HpSA, a highly specific measure of the presence of components of H. pylori shed into the stool of infected people. There was no HpSA level change in control subjects who ate alfalfa sprouts. (more…)
Food industry additives and colors are one major cause of ADHD, asthma and cancer creating a toxic environment for our children’s health. Even medicines for babies and young children frequently contain these additives banned from foods and drinks and targeted at children under three years of age.
Artificial flavors and colors means it is derived from a chemical made in a laboratory and has no nutritional value. Every single artificial flavor and color in the food industry has some kind of detrimental health effect. These include neurotoxicity, organ, developmental, reproductive toxicity, allergies and cancer.
Two recent British studies found that several food dyes, as well as the common preservative sodium benzoate have an adverse effect on some children’s behavior. Researchers said the increase in ADHD diagnoses could be partly to blame on the preservative.
“It can affect their focus, their concentration. They become more easily distractible, become more impulsive. I think we’re looking at a whole population of kids with skewed immune systems,” said Dr. Kenneth Bock, who wrote a book that supports the theory that food additives could lead to hyperactivity in children. This study stated a conclusion absolving vaccinations of causing harm to children. But their conclusion doesn’t match their results! Worse, though, is that close inspection shows that the study was utterly inadequate. That they showed vaccinated children have more infectious diseases, though, is rather humorous.
A German study has found that unvaccinated children suffer from significantly less infectious disease than vaccinated children. Particularly humorous is that the article’s introduction contradicts the findings: (more…)

“The Hygiene Hypothesis states that when children lack early exposure to infectious agents, parasites, and symbiotic microorganisms like normal gut flora such as would naturally occur in a rural or farm environment, they are much more likely to suffer from autoimmune disorders such as allergies or asthma.
This hypothesis helps to explain why farm kids tend to be so much healthier and far less prone to immune disorders than children raised in an urban setting. (more…)
Do you have adrenal fatigue? If you are chronically tired and have lost the ability to handle stress, chances are you have adrenal fatigue, a condition often overlooked by traditional doctors. The adrenal glands produce several key hormones, including adrenaline (the fight or flight hormone) and cortisol (the stress hormone). When a person is under excessive or prolonged stress, the adrenal glands respond by producing excessive secretions of these hormones until they become exhausted. Adrenal fatigue can affect anyone who experiences frequent, persistent or severe mental, emotional or physical stress, a common occurrence in the modern world. When this happens, many body systems may be affected. (more…)
According to a study published in October 2012, 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) reduces allergic inflammation in the lung. Researchers investigated 5-HTP and the correlation between allergy/asthma and anxiety/depression. Allergic diseases have been increasing in prevalence in industrialized countries for the last 50 years. In fact, sensitization rates to one or more common allergens among school children are currently approaching 40 to 50 percent worldwide. (more…)
What hope is there for the future when the average child is sick? We’re going to find out, because that’s today’s reality—thanks to the vaccines of rapacious pharmaceutical corporations that couldn’t care less.

Many of us have known, simply because of observation, that children are no longer healthy. Now, a scientific study documents what we’re seeing. The average child is now sick, chronically ill. It doesn’t bode well for the future of the United States, and is almost certainly true of other developed nations. (more…)
An ongoing study out of Germany comparing disease rates among vaccinated and unvaccinated children points to a pretty clear disparity between the two groups as far as illness rates are concerned. As reported by the group Health Freedom Alliance, children who have been vaccinated according to official government schedules are up to five times more likely to contract a preventable disease than children who developed their own immune systems naturally without vaccines. Most of us have a food allergy or intolerance—and the culprit could be the chemicals used to chlorinate the public water supply. The chemical, dichlorophenol, is also found in pesticides, which we can absorb from the air we breathe and the food we eat, say researchers.
Researchers have pinpointed the chemical as the most likely cause of f
ood allergies and intolerances after they discovered that sufferers had the highest levels of the pollutant in their body. Of the 2,211 people with high levels of dichlorophenol analysed in a survey, 411 had a food allergy—which can sometimes be life-threatening—and another 1,016 had an environmental allergy, such as hay fever.
However, it’s been estimated that half the population of the West has food intolerance—often to wheat, milk or eggs—which is a milder form of allergy where there is discomfort and difficulty in digesting the food. This, too, could be caused by the chemical.
The chemical is extensively used to chlorinate the water supply we get from our taps (faucets) and in pesticides. So, even changing to bottled water may not do the trick, say researchers from the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. It’s also found on the fruit and vegetable we eat—unless, of course, you eat organic.
