Curcumin Helps Menopausal Women Mitigate Metabolic Alterations And Lose Fat

Curcumin is a compound found in the spice turmeric which gives it a natural pigment. It has been linked to a range of health benefits, and now researchers have found it helps mitigate metabolic and oxidative alterations caused by hormone deprivation in events such as menopause.

Intake of curcumin at ‘physiologically attainable’ doses have recently been reported to slow the development of many disease including cancer. It even outperforms pharmaceuticals without side effects.

Previous research in the European Journal of Nutrition suggests that curcumin may be useful for the treatment and prevention of obesity-related chronic diseases, as the interactions of curcumin with several signal transduction pathways — the process by which biological functions are recognized — also reverse insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, and other inflammatory symptoms associated with obesity and metabolic disorders.

Researchers from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul published a report in the Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity journal that outlines how curcumin may reverse aging symptoms, such as bone loss and weight gain, associated with post-menopausal animals and humans.

Talcum powder is Linked to Ovarian Cancer. Shocking Reasons to Stop Using It Immediately

You have probably used talcum powder or other talc powder containing products. Talc is used in many  industries. It is commonly used in cosmetics and body powders, including those for babies. It has hydrophobic surface properties helping to keep skin dry.

However, it appears that talcum powder may cause significant lung damage (or even lung cancer) if inhaled, in addition to, increasing the risk for ovarian cancer. However, despite these apparent risks, the FDA has still not pulled this product from the market or forced manufacturers to place more comprehensive warning labels informing consumers about the possible health risks related to the usage of talcum containing products.
In one study done in 1971 researchers found particles of talc in 75 percent of the ovarian tumors they studied. In another study done by 19 scientists in 8 different countries, research showed that there is a 30-60 percent increased risk of ovarian cancer if talc is used in the genital area. Study after study for the last 50 years shows that talc is dangerous. (more…)

Women Put an Average of 168 Chemicals on Their Bodies Each Day, Consumer Group Says

http://hurt2healingmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Top-10-Toxic-Chemicals-in-Cosmetics.jpg

American women put an average of 168 chemicals on their bodies each day, according to a nonprofit group, but two senators say federal regulations on personal care products have barely changed since the 1930s.

Senators Dianne Feinstein, D-California, and Susan Collins, R-Maine, introduced an amendment to the federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act that would give the Food and Drug Administration more power and oversight to regulate the chemicals men and women slather on their bodies every day. They’re calling it the Personal Care Products Safety Act.

“From shampoo to lotion, the use of personal care products is widespread, however, there are very few protections in place to ensure their safety,” Feinstein said in a statement. (more…)

Ovarian Cancer: What We Think We Know May Harm Us

Ovarian Cancer: What We Think We Know May Harm Us

What do we really know about ovarian cancer risk and the ‘gene mutations’ considered largely responsible for increasing it? The answer is quite surprising and opens up the possibility for a radical change in how we diagnosis and treat the most lethal gynecological cancer in existence.

Ovarian cancer strikes fear into the hearts of women, their families, and their doctors, alike.  Risks of false positive diagnosis leading to a treatment that has been demonstrated to result in the worst outcomes of any gynecologic cancer have led  the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) to recommend against routine screening.[1]

The real tragedy – largely still unacknowledged – is that ovarian cancer statistics are not transparent to the fact that five times more women without ovarian cancer end up having surgery than those with ovarian cancer, according to a 2011 JAMA retrospective study of ovarian cancer screening.[2]

Frankincense More Effective Than Chemotherapy In Killing Ovarian Cancer Cells, Study Says

New research discovered that a cure for ovarian cancer can be found in an aromatic resin that grows in trees in Africa. What is this magical gum? Frankincense.

In an age where cancer is becoming so popular that almost everyone is thinking about how they can protect themselves from cancer risks even at a very young age, the research for prevention should be at the top of health matters. However this isn’t quite the case. While small amounts of overall funding is put into prevention research, larger, yet still small amounts, are being put into finding a cure. Unfortunately, those cures must provide a profitable return for  drug manufacturers should they wish to see the light of day in mainstream practice. (more…)

The Myth of Safe Bio-Identical Hormones and 9 Reasons To Avoid This Toxic Therapy

Promoters of bio-identical hormones claim that they are anti-aging, increase sex drive, prevent cancer and have little to no risks or side effects. After all, when a person doesn’t have enough hormones, the solution is to give them more hormones right? It’s a short-sighted objective based on the far too frequent model of treating symptoms rather than the root causes of illness. Only clever marketing has duped millions of women into thinking that bio-identical hormones are any safer than the toxic FDA-approved hormone replacement products. They are not safe, not natural, and bluntly stated, are disease promoting drugs.

Many women assume that “natural” hormones would be better or safer — but the term “natural” is open to interpretation. Any product whose principal ingredient has an animal, plant, or mineral source is technically natural. It doesn’t matter whether the substance is ground, put into capsules, and sold over the counter — or extracted in a laboratory, manufactured by a pharmaceutical company, and made available only by prescription.
