Chemo Making Cancer Worse Says Yet Another Peer Reviewed Medical Journal

 Yet another new study published in Science Translational Medicine shows that chemotherapy promotes cancer metastasis.

Cancers figure among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Between 2005 and 2015, cancer cases increased by 33 percent and the number of new cases is expected to rise by about 70% over the next just two decades under the current global disease promoting paradigm.

A 14-year study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology in December 2004 called “The Contribution of Cytotoxic Chemotherapy to 5-year Survival in Adult Malignancies” showed that the overall contribution of curative and adjuvant cytotoxic chemotherapy to 5-year survival in adults was estimated to be 2.3% in Australia and 2.1 % in The USA.

Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent forms of cancer and the idea that while trying to make it better we are actually making it WORSE is undoubtedly terrifying for everyone.

Researchers tested the effects of a type of chemotherapy on tissue collected from men with prostate cancer, and found “evidence of DNA damage” in healthy cells after treatment, the scientists wrote in Nature Medicine. The scientists found that healthy cells damaged by chemotherapy secreted more of a protein called WNT16B which boosts cancer cell survival.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is the first line of medical intervention against breast cancer — it is the first treatment prescribed to patients who are diagnosed with the disease. Usually, the strategy is to use the poison to shrink the tumor before surgery, when the bulk of the cancer is cut off.

Cancer cells are different from every other cell type in the body because they are dividing very quickly and uncontrollably. Chemotherapy harms other cells in the body that also divide quickly — such as cells in the hair follicles, which is why chemo patients often lose their hair. However, the main tumor body is not necessarily the most dangerous aspect of cancer. 90% of patients that pass away from cancer do so because the cancer has spread throughout the body to other organs and tissues. For example, breast cancer cells can get into the bloodstream and get transported to the bones, to the lungs and to the liver. This process in known as metastasis and is unquestionably the most dangerous side of cancer. Unfortunately, in many cases after the cancer is removed and the patient undergoes more chemotherapy there will be signs that some cancer cells have escaped the surgery and have started growing elsewhere. It might take a long time — even decades is some cases, but metastasis is sadly a very common occurrence.

The authors of the study in STM use an interesting and relatively novel marker of metastasis which is called tumor microenvironment of metastasis — TMEM for short. Each TMEM site is a spot where cancer cells are likely to make a transition between the tissue they are from and the bloodstream — which acts as a very effective transportation system to carry cancer cells throughout the body. Ingeniously, in this particular piece of research scientists use three molecules that are known to be very highly present at TMEM sites. Therefore, counting the number of spots where these molecules are highly expressed is a by-proxy way of measuring how many opportunities breast cancer cells have to make that fatal move out of the breast tissue and into the bloodstream. The study also shows that neoadjuvant chemotherapy increases the number of TMEM sites — which means there is an increased risk for cancer cells to metastasize. Given these data it is unsurprising that in the mice that are used as a model in this study the use of chemotherapy leads to an increased amount of metastasis.

Study: Chemo Drugs Actually Cause Cancer

A new study published this month (July 2017) confirms what most who are not entrenched in mainstream oncology’s viewpoint of cancer treatment by chemo drugs have already pointed out: Chemo drugs are carcinogenic, and they actually cause cancer.

This is actually the second study published in modern times showing that the very drugs prescribed for cancer treatment, actually cause cancer.

The first study in 2012 didn’t raise much of a mainstream media stir, but the most recent study in 2017  made it into London, England’s mainstream press. This recent coverage also referenced the earlier 2012 study to further put the situation into perspective.

The 2017 media press coverage also rode on the coat tails of a recently publicized study showing that too many cancer patients in England were dying from chemo and not their cancers.

How Coxibs Killed Tens of Thousands

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which include over-the-counter pharmaceuticals such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin, rank among the most widely used pharmaceuticals worldwide. Their chief mechanism of action is inhibition of two forms of cyclo-oxygenase (COX), namely COX-1 and COX-2 (1). Also known as prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase (PTGS), COX is responsible for the production of downstream mediators of pain and inflammation, such as thromboxane and prostaglandins. Due to their suppression of prostaglandins, which exert protective roles in the gastrointestinal tract, one of the most frequent adverse effects of NSAIDs is irritation of the gastric mucosa.

Thus, newer generation selective COX-2 drugs, known as the coxibs, were introduced in the 1990s to mitigate the risk of peptic ulceration that results from COX-1 suppression. By 2004, coxibs had dominated the prescription drug market for NSAIDs, with worldwide sales of approximately $10 billion (2). Their development was based on the premise that COX-1 was the source of the cytoprotective prostaglandins in the gastric epithelium, whereas COX-2 was the source of the inflammatory mediators, prostaglandins E2 and I2 (2). However, as early as 1999, scientists had reported that coxibs inhibit generation of prostaglandin I2, the primary product of COX in the endothelium, responsible for reducing platelet aggregation and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and for inducing vascular vasodilation (2).

Study: High Saturated Fat Diet with Coconut Oil Reduces Gut Bacteria in Crohn’s Disease

A recent 2017 study has determined that pure dietary saturated fats, especially coconut oil, can ease the suffering from inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease.

This study was conducted at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, a private institution well known for independent research. The study was reported in Science Daily June 22, 2017. Mice were fed only plant based fats such as cocoa butter and coconut oil.

The mice fed coconut oil or cocoa butter had fewer kinds of gut bacteria. Their gut microbiome content had been positively altered to a healthier balance by 30 percent.

Microbiome changes were noticed in the mice feces and/or the cecum, a part of the small intestine that Crohn’s inflammation can spread into outside the colon or large intestine.

These helpful changes were observed even with low doses of coconut oil or cocoa butter, indicating that a moderate dietary change toward increased consumption of these fats would benefit Crohn’s sufferers. It wouldn’t be necessary to switch to a ketogenic diet completely. But at least a temporary ketogenic diet could bring about more change more rapidly. (more…)

Despite their success as multi-billion dollar cholesterol medications, statins have been shown to increase the risk of the neurodegenerative disease Parkinson’s. The list of statin drug-induced disorders also includes diabetes, cataracts, liver and kidney failure, memory loss, muscle damage, pneumonia and immune suppression. These are all a heavy price to pay for the drug management of cholesterol. While not everyone experiences these adverse effects, it should pose some serious questions about the ubiquitous use of these meds and the desire to put everyone on them. Past research clearly demonstrates that turmeric is a powerful natural preventative and therapeutic agent for diabetes 2. The most commonly prescribed pharmaceutical approach with diabetes 2 or diabetes myelitis (DM) is Metformin, which is fraught with side effects even though it is considered safer than other diabetic drugs with worse side effects.

Negative Thoughts Harm Your Health By Damaging DNA

The authors claim in their new book, The Telomere Effect, that negative thoughts harm your health at the DNA level. Research has shown that a person’s “social relationships, environments and lifestyles” affect their genes. “Even though you are born with a particular set of genes, the way you live can influence how they express themselves.”

Blackburn and Epel say components of DNA called telomeres determine how fast your cells age. Short telomeres are one of the major reasons human cells grow old, but lab tests have shown that they can also grow longer. In other words, aging “could possibly be accelerated or slowed -and, in some aspects, even reversed.”

Research Proves That DNA Is Reprogrammed by Words and Frequencies

The aging and lifespan of normal, healthy cells are linked to the so-called telomerase shortening mechanism, which limits cells to a fixed number of divisions. During cell replication, the telomeres function by ensuring the cell’s chromosomes do not fuse with each other or rearrange, which can lead to cancer. Blackburn likened telomeres to the ends of shoelaces, without which the lace would unravel.

In one study, telomere length, an emerging biomarker for cellular and general bodily aging, was assessed in association with the tendency to be present in the moment versus the tendency to mind wander, in research on 239 healthy, midlife women ranging in age from 50 to 65 years.

“People who score high on measures of cynical hostility tend to get more cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease and often die at younger ages. They also have shorter telomeres.”

Pessimism shortens telomeres too.”When pessimists develop an aging-related illness, like cancer or heart disease, the illness tends to progress faster… They tend to die earlier,” warn the authors.

Ruminating over a bad situation is also destructive. “Rumination never leads to a solution, only to more ruminating… When you ruminate, stress sticks around in the body long after the reason for the stress is over.” The resulting depression and anxiety only make your telomeres shorter.

Trying to suppress thoughts and feelings makes matters worse. “The more forcefully you push your thoughts away, the louder they call out for your attention… In a small study, greater avoidance of negative feelings and thoughts was associated with shorter telomeres.”

Even lack of focus is bad for telomeres because “when people are not thinking about what they’re doing, they’re not as happy as when they’re engaged.” To reverse the harm to telomeres, try meditation and long-distance running.

Green Tea Changes Estrogen Metabolism and Breast Cancer Risk

New research from the U.S. National Institutes of Health shows that the biochemicals in green tea change a women’s estrogen metabolism, revealing at least one of its mechanisms for reducing the risk of breast cancer.

The study comes from the NIH’s National Cancer Institute, and was led by Dr. Barbara Fuhrman. The researchers tested the levels of urinary estrogens and metabolites among 181 healthy Japanese American women from California and Hawaii. Of the group, 72 of the women were postmenopausal. The remainder of the group was premenopausal.

The data was compiled using a combination of urinary testing along with personal interviews with each women. The woman’s intake of not only green tea, but black tea, coffee (decaffeinated or not) and soda (decaffeinated or not) was also queried and recorded and measured, and the results were adjusted with respect to caffeine consumption. Considerations such as soy consumption, body mass index, age and others were also made and adjusted.
