Finally! The FDA Admits That Nearly Over 70% of U.S. Chickens Contain Cancer-Causing Arsenic

I don’t know about the rest of you, but lately my poultry purchases at my local market have become more and more of a ‘hit-and-miss’ situation, with more ‘misses’ if I’m being honest. As I bite into my homemade chicken nuggets or Coq au Vin (when I’m feeling fancy) I can’t help but feel that the chicken just tastes weird, stringy, just…funny. So a few days ago when I turned on the tube and saw the news headlines stating that the FDA has finally confirmed that chicken meat sold in the USA contains arsenic, my head, and stomach, nearly hit the roof. This cancer-causing toxic chemical, that in high doses could kill you, is actually being added to chicken feed on purpose, giving store-bought chicken the illusion of healthy coloring and plump appearance. Shockingly, this is the case with more than 70 percent of all U.S. chickens! That is just awful!

Worried About Mercury Exposure? Arsenic May Be Worse—How to Test Your Levels

Arsenic2

Could your health symptoms be caused by a toxic blood level of arsenic?
Read on to find out how to tell.
Do you fear heavy metal toxicity? If so, you have good reason to. Public awareness campaigns and even most doctors focus on mercury as the toxic nemesis of health.

Mercury sneaks into your body from amalgam dental fillings, fish, and in Thimerosal used as a preservative in vaccines, immunoglobulin preparations, skin test antigens, antivenins, eye and nose drops, multidose injection vials, and tattoo inks. It takes up residence in body tissues including the brain and bones. High levels are associated with chronic illness including autoimmune diseases, fatigue syndromes, and neurological diseases.

But is that all there is to heavy metal poisoning? (more…)

FDA Finally Admits Chicken Meat Contains Cancer-Causing Arsenic

After years of sweeping the issue under the rug and hoping no one would notice, the FDA has now finally admitted that chicken meat sold in the USA contains arsenic, a cancer-causing toxic chemical that’s fatal in high doses. But the real story is where this arsenic comes from: It’s added to the chicken feed on purpose!

Even worse, the FDA says its own research shows that the arsenic added to the chicken feed ends up in the chicken meat where it is consumed by humans. So for the last sixty years, American consumers who eat conventional chicken have been swallowing arsenic, a known cancer-causing chemical. (http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/…)

FDA Finally Admits Chicken Meat Contains Cancer-Causing Arsenic - Chicken FactoryUntil this new study, both the poultry industry and the FDA denied that arsenic fed to chickensended up in their meat. The fairy-tale excuse story we’ve all been fed for sixty years is that “the arsenic is excreted in the chicken feces.” There’s no scientific basis for making such a claim… it’s just what the poultry industry wanted everybody to believe. 10 American Foods that are Banned in Other Countries

Americans are slowly waking up to the sad fact that much of the food sold in the US is far inferior to the same foods sold in other nations. In fact, many of the foods you eat are BANNED in other countries.
Here, I’ll review 10 American foods that are banned elsewhere, which were featured in a recent MSN article.1
Seeing how the overall health of Americans is so much lower than other industrialized countries, you can’t help but wonder whether toxic foods such as these might play a role in our skyrocketing disease rates.

#1: Farm-Raised Salmon

If you want to maximize health benefits from fish, you want to steer clear of farmed fish, particularly farmed salmon fed dangerous chemicals. Wild salmon gets its bright pinkish-red color from natural carotenoids in their diet. Farmed salmon, on the other hand, are raised on a wholly unnatural diet of grains (including genetically engineered varieties), plus a concoction of antibiotics and other drugs and chemicals not shown to be safe for humans.
This diet leaves the fish with unappetizing grayish flesh so to compensate, they’re fed synthetic astaxanthin made from petrochemicals, which has not been approved for human consumption and has well known toxicities. According to the featured article, some studies suggest it can potentially damage your eyesight. More details are available in yesterday’s article.
Where it’s banned: Australia and New Zealand
How can you tell whether a salmon is wild or farm-raised? The flesh of wild sockeye salmon is bright red, courtesy of its natural astaxanthin content. It’s also very lean, so the fat marks, those white stripes you see in the meat, are very thin. If the fish is pale pink with wide fat marks, the salmon is farmed.
Avoid Atlantic salmon, as typically salmon labeled “Atlantic Salmon” currently comes from fish farms. The two designations you want to look for are: “Alaskan salmon,” and “sockeye salmon,” as Alaskan sockeye is not allowed to be farmed. Please realize that the vast majority of all salmon sold in restaurants is farm raised.
So canned salmon labeled “Alaskan Salmon” is a good bet, and if you find sockeye salmon, it’s bound to be wild. Again, you can tell sockeye salmon from other salmon by its color; its flesh is bright red opposed to pink, courtesy of its superior astaxanthin content. Sockeye salmon actually has one of the highest concentrations of astaxanthin of any food.

Artificial food dye: Makes your food pretty and inhibits nerve-cell development.

Found in: Practically everything we eat: cake mixes, sports drinks, cheese, candy, and even MACARONI AND CHEESE.

Why it’s dangerous: Artificial dyes are made from chemicals derived from PETROLEUM, which is also used to make gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt, and TAR! Artificial dyes have been linked to brain cancer, nerve-cell deterioration, and hyperactivity, just to name a few.

Where it’s banned: Norway, Finland, Austria, France, and the United Kingdom. (more…)

Best Ways to Avoid Arsenic in Rice (Besides Not Eating)

Best Ways to Avoid Arsenic in Rice (Besides Not Eating)

The Federal Drug Administration is investigating research that has found some rice contains inorganic arsenic levels being characterized as “worrisome.” Their review of the research may result in their finally setting a maximum limit of inorganic arsenic in our foods.

While this should be good news to consumers, the media’s coverage seems to be missing some crucial information. Like where the arsenic comes from and how we can avoid it.

The FDA’s data found inorganic arsenic levels between 3.5 and 6.7 micrograms per serving in their sampling. And a recent Consumer Reports study found similar levels. But this really is not news. (more…)

Take two chickens and call me in the morning

It’s the Buy-One-Get-One-Free special stores don’t advertise: Buy some chicken, get some meds for free.

And just to make it more convenient for everyone, the drugs aren’t in their own package — they’re already inside the chicken.

Chickens raised on factory farms are being fed everything from banned antibiotics to painkillers — and some are even poisoned with arsenic — all in the name of raising the fattest and pinkest possible birds in the shortest possible time.

Now, two new studies on chicken feathers (which hold traces of drugs and other toxins fed to the birds) show just how many meds are pumped into them — and remember, whatever that chicken eats is what ends up on your plate on Chicken Night: (more…)

Brain Health Part 1

As I get older, there are a few things I don’t want to get older. I want my joints to work so that I can get around. I want my eyes to work so that I can see. I want my brain to work so I can remember. But we have a problem. Getting older in America means you are going to get Alzheimer’s. If you live to age 90, you have something on the order of 50% risk of getting Alzheimer’s. America has a wave of dementia coming down the way, and we are all sitting on the beach. It’s an epidemic I don’t want to be part of. I’m really interested in how I can keep my brain healthy, so I want to start to explore the emerging science of brain health.  (more…)
