Numerous studies have confirmed that berries are the best foods to maximize your intake of disease-fighting antioxidants, and have also identified the other fruits and vegetables with the highest antioxidant content.
Antioxidants are increasingly implicated as the chemicals behind many of the health-promoting benefits of fruits and vegetables. They act in part by cleansing the body of free radicals, which can cause cell and DNA damage that leads to the effects of aging and to many chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.
Just one cup per day
One major study, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry in 2004, analyzed the antioxidant levels of more than a hundred separate foods including fruits, vegetables, breads, cereals, nuts and spices. (more…)
Some of the most potent cancer protection strategies are ultimately the simplest. To maintain the integrity of your DNA you just need to optimize your body’s detoxification system to neutralize many of the chemical threats from our food supply and environment.

Dangerous toxins are lurking in personal care items and cleaning products including, laundry soap, dishwashing detergents, kitchen cleaners and baby products. Pesticides used in and around the house; the water coming into your home; volatile organic compounds from carpet and upholstery – all are among the products that are implicated in causing cellular damage. And, let’s not forget, processed foods we consume.
Environmental toxins are a major cause of cancer – they damage DNA and can activate cancer-causing genes, which would otherwise have remained dormant. You can do your best to avoid these, but it’s impossible to eliminate them completely.
What can we do to neutralize the threat of toxins? (more…)
Though there is little meaningful talk about this important subject in the mainstream media, cancer prevention is something that every single person needs to be thinking about, especially in light of the excess of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), environmental chemicals, and other modern exposures linked to rapidly rising rates of this deadly disease. And one of the best ways to avoid getting cancer is to fortify your body with a robust nutritional profile rich in cancer-fighting “superfoods.” (more…)
The power of blueberries is enough to turn Big Pharma’s drugs red with envy. Several new studies continue to document why blueberries are a true superfood that should be regularly part of your diet and/or consumed as high-quality polyphenol concentrates in dietary supplements. (more…)
Almost everyone thinks blueberries taste great and likes to see them on the breakfast table. But there is a lot more to love about these tiny fruits. Blueberries are one of the richest sources of antioxidants, the natural substances that fight damage caused by free radicals. This makes them highly effective in fighting chronic degenerative diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, macular degeneration, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. And now we know that blueberries safeguard the brain.
Although it is not clear how blueberries affect the brain, it has been shown that the flavonoids
they contain are able to cross the blood brain barrier. This enables them to influence regions in the brain involved in memory and motor function, and enhance neural connections
, thereby improving cellular communication and stimulating neural regeneration.

Blueberries provide protection against a host of ailments from aging to metabolic syndrome. The latest research has shown blueberry polyphenols actually inhibit fat cell formation and increase lipolysis. A graduate student from Texas Woman`s University conducted a study to identify whether polyphenols from blueberries would inhibit fat cell formation at the molecular level. The findings of this latest research expose the potential of polyphenols in reducing obesity risk through the reduction of adipose tissue production in the body. (more…)
