Aspartame Associated with Brain Oxidative Stress

According to a study published in September 2012, chronic ingestion of the artificial sweetener aspartame results in increased oxidative stress in the brain. Aspartame is a sugar substitute nearly 200 times sweeter than sucrose. Aspartame is metabolized in the body to its components including aspartic acid, phenylalanine and methanol. (more…)

Is Your Statin Making You Stupid?

While cholesterol-lowering statin medications have been widely credited with reducing the number of fatal heart attacks, it’s no secret that the drugs have side effects. The Food and Drug Administration has acknowledged side effects that include memory loss and fuzzy thinking, and last year issued new package warnings for the world’s best-selling medication.

For people who take statins and experience disturbing side effects, deciding whether to continue the medication presents a dilemma – especially when the drugs seem to harm their very ability to think clearly. (more…)

Latest research on camu camu

As disease epidemics reach astonishing numbers in our country, combined with the cost of healthcare, more and more people are researching their options for maintaining or regaining their health and quality of life. After trying western medicine and fad diets, it becomes obvious that there is no way around addressing diet and nutrition in the quest for health. It is amazing how overfed and under-nourished we are in the industrialized world. One of the only ways to quickly and easily improve anyone’s health – in a healthy way – is to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables eaten every day. By a lot, usually. Superfoods are nutrient-rich foods packed with phytonutrients that have a powerful effect on human health. More and more people are discovering how much better they feel when they add superfoods to their diet. (more…)

Top 10 Brain Food That Will Boost Your Intelligence

The brain is without question the most important, and yet least understood, of all the parts of the body. It controls every major function performed by the body, and its correct functioning is undoubtedly one of the crucial parts of having successful and happy life. However, due to the complexity of the brain, there are many things that can go wrong with it, and there are also many lifestyle factors that influence its performance. Food is one of the primary factors in optimizing brain function and preventing brain disease, and yet many people are unaware of exactly what foods they should be eating for these purposes.

Here is a list of the ten best brain foods, and why they work. (more…)

Yet more studies link fluoride to brain damage

Science continues to provide more evidence that fluoride, which is added to most public drinking water systems in the U.S. as a way to fight tooth decay, causes more harm than good.

The Fluoride Action Network said in a press release that a newly discovered and translated study found that fluoride is linked to lower IQ, even at ranges added to U.S. water supplies. Moreover, the group said, fluoridation promoters “misrepresented” data from a recent Harvard fluoride/IQ study. (more…)

Lipoic Acid Rejuvenates Aging Antioxidant Defenses in Brain and Heart

Acceleration of the aging process is invariably associated with increased free radical damage, which is associated with inflammation and weakening antioxidant defense systems. A number of new studies show that R-alpha lipoic acid can rejuvenate these faltering antioxidant defense systems, and help protect your brain, cardiovascular system, and even assist individuals with poor thyroid function. (more…)

Magnesium Boosts Brain Function

A study shows that intake of magnesium1 above what is traditionally considered the normal dietary amount has a dramatic effect on improving multiple aspects of memory and learning. These findings held true for both young and old.

In the study, magnesium directly improved synaptic plasticity, which I previously explained is the key to the future health of your brain. Various regions in the brain associated with learning and memory experienced significant improvements in synaptic function as a result of magnesium dietary supplementation. (more…)

Alpha GPC for Focus, Memory, and Cognitive Ability

Alpha GPC (L-alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine), a unique form of choline, has been proven to boost attention, mental focus, memory, and cognitive ability.  It helps build brain cell membranes as well as contribute to the formation of acetylcholine neurotransmitters that are vital for memory and cognitive function.  (more…)

Harvard Study Finds Fluoride Lowers IQ – Published in Federal Gov’t Journal

Harvard University researchers’ review of fluoride/brain studies concludes “our results support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children’s neurodevelopment.” It was published online July 20 in Environmental Health Perspectives, a US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences’ journal (1), reports the NYS Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc. (NYSCOF)

“The children in high fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ than those who lived in low fluoride areas,” write Choi et al.

Further, the EPA says fluoride is a chemical “with substantial evidence of developmental neurotoxicity.” (more…)

If the Latest Theory of Mental Illness Is Correct, Then Drugs Genetically Engineer Brains.

The chemical imbalance theory is so yesterday. Here comes the genetic theory of mental illness. Of course, pharma drugs supposedly fix the genetic flaws. If true, our brains are being genetically engineered by drugs.
