There have been numerous studies on lauric acid for various health supporting factors. Did you know that virgin coconut oil is 50 percent or more lauric acid? So whatever healthy attributes lauric acid contains so does coconut oil, and more.
And more will be explained later in this article. For now we’ll focus on coconut oil’s major component, lauric acid, and a recent animal study with dramatic results discovered for reducing hypertension (high blood pressure) and oxidative stress.

One of the biggest questions I get about coconut oil is, “how do I eat it and what does it do?” And “why didn’t it do that for me?” You want to lose weight, cut fat, have energy and stomp all over the world daily. You want to break down cubicles and smash stop signs at will. You’ve heard Coconut Oil can help you do this, but you’ve tried it, and it didn’t seem to work. Or your friend tried it and said it didn’t work. Or you just have no clue what’s happening with it and suspect it’s just another fad.
I wrote this to clear the air for you.
What I want to do with this article is discuss exactly how I eat it and why it probably works the way it does for me (and why it can fail someone). This is divided up into the theory of what is likely causing it to be a success or failure for weight loss and improved mental clarity, as well as how to ingest and what to expect. Coconut oil was victimized during that era of erroneous dogma that demonized saturated fats, including butter, and created the unhealthy trans-fatty acid hydrogenated unsaturated fat industry, which included margarine. Saturated fats have been resurrected from the trash bin of forbidden foods over the past decade or so with proven health merits.
Now that the fog of junk science dogma has lifted, more and more health conscious folks are finding saturated fats, especially coconut oil, are beyond just safe. They are healthy and medicinal. Several published but unpublicized studies have been conducted and are in progress regarding palm or coconut oil’s medicinal properties.
One of the most profound studies that you probably haven’t read or heard about involves cancer. It was conducted by Australian researchers and published in the January 2014 journal Chemotherapy under “experimental chemotherapy”. It was an in vitro (test tube, petri dish) study on human colon or colorectal cancer cells.
Colorectal or colon cancer has the second highest death rate of all cancers and is the third most commonly diagnosed. (more…)
A woman who was suffering from basal cell carcinoma skin cancer on the crown of her head was cured by her daughter’s insistence on trying baking soda pastes applied directly to the skin cancer.
At first, Kyneret Azizo’s mother resisted, but Azizo, a respected writer and advocate of natural remedies, had read of people curing their skin cancer with simple water and baking soda, bicarbonate of soda, not baking powder.
But after three surgical procedures resulted in the cancer returning worse each time, the mother yielded to Azizo’s urging. She mixed the baking soda with pure cold pressed organic coconut oil into a thick paste instead of water. She knew that coconut oil has skin cellular regenerative powers and figured the oil would be an effective adjunct for the baking soda. Dr. Taya Varteresian, a board certified psychiatrist working for the Veterans Administration, is the lead publisher in an article to appear in the journal Current Psychiatry Reports titled: “Natural products and supplements for geriatric depression and cognitive disorders: an evaluation of the research.”
According to the abstract, more and more elderly people are starting to use “Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) for late-life mood and cognitive disorders.” This obviously concerns psychiatrists, since their main remedies for “cognitive disorders” are powerful anti-psychotic drugs. They are not trained in natural supplements, therefore they apparently felt the need to educate other psychiatrists about the “side effects and indications for various natural products” so that psychiatrists could “protect their patients.” (more…)
