Nearly every month, a new diet book pops up on the shelves and becomes a bestseller. If you take a quick look through them, you’ll realize the main ideas are practically the same. While there may be different foods lists, they’re all based on principles of deprivation, external rules, and focus on weight loss.
Yes, I’m sure you could lose weight on any popular diet out there. Yet, I’m taking a stand against diets because of the negative side effects – physical and mental – that ultimately leaves you frustrated, overwhelmed, and blaming yourself.
Getting trapped in the diet mindset is a terrifying place to be. You don’t even need to be following a “diet” plan per se, but over time, all the rules from past diets, magazines, or friends stay set in your head. This pseudo-dieting becomes your life where you feel tremendous shame from indulging in your favorite “guilty pleasures,” eating more than 1200 calories, or even eating when you’re not hungry.
The only way to get out of the diet mindset is to break down the rules, find peace with food, and give yourself permission to eat what you want without worrying about weight gain or letting it affect your worth as a person.
Weight Loss Mistake #1: You’re looking for a quick fix and want to “trick” your body into losing weight.
99% of diets are set up to play a little TRICK on your body and manipulate it into losing weight. This is usually done by cutting out a macronutrient group (think protein, carbs or fat) or limiting calories. This ALWAYS sets you up for failure, since you can only trick the body in the short term and it will always end up rebelling back, but often with a few extra pounds. So nix thinking anything good ever happens overnight, as it’s a weight loss killer and sets the stage for tricking your body into achieving counterproductive short term results.
And a little newsflash: You need to be HEALTHY to lose weight (NOT the other way around).
That’s RIGHT! Weight loss the CORRECT way is achieved by working towards health as a first priority! If you focus on a multifaceted approach to GET healthy, weight loss can be achieved naturally. Weight loss that is sustainable. Long lasting. Healthy. Sanity saving. Successful. (more…)

This is something lots of people ask about the Bulletproof Diet. I spent a lot of time getting the core Bulletproof Diet infographic into a simple format so you will at least know what to eat. A reduction of animal fat and an increase of vegetable fat in the diet is said to lower the blood cholesterol. This is correct, but the effect of such dietary changes is very small. Ramsay and Jackson (37) reviewed 16 trials using diet as intervention. They concluded that the so-called step-I diet, which is similar to the dietary advices that are given nationwise by the health authorities in many countries, lower the serum cholesterol by 0 to 4% only. There are more effective diets, but they are unpalatable to most People. (more…)
