The Eight Most Damaging Ingredients to Watch for on Food Labels

The Eight Most Damaging Ingredients to Watch for on Food Labels

Processed foods are loaded with preservatives, artificial colors, and artificial flavorings, which is one of the reasons that I recommend avoiding them. Once you become a label reader, you’ll realize just how ubiquitous they are.

The best way to avoid toxic chemical additives is to consume only fresh whole foods. But practically speaking, this can be difficult for many people to accomplish, at least 100 percent of the time. Chances are that, despite your best efforts, you’ll have a processed food or two somewhere in your diet.

Therefore, it’s good to know which of the thousands of chemical additives are the most dangerous and should be avoided at all cost when you spot them on a food label.

An article recently posted on One Green Planet1 highlights eight particularly pernicious ingredients that you and your kids are probably eating. There seems to be good consensus about the worst of the worst, as seven of those were also dubbed the “Scary Seven”2 by Andrea Donsky of Naturally Savvy.

If you notice any of these on a food label, put it right back on the shelf! While I agree with all of One Green Planet’s choices, here I’ve selected my own “worst of the worst” ingredients found in processed foods.

High Fructose Corn Syrup Is Causing Addiction Similar To Cocaine

Waking Times

Results presented at the 2013 Canadian Neuroscience Meeting shows that high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) can cause behavioural reactions similar to those produced by drugs of abuse such as cocaine

These results, presented by addiction expert Francesco Leri, Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Applied Cognitive Science at the University of Guelph, suggest food addiction could explain, at least partly, the current global obesity epidemic partly caused by these ingredients. (more…)

Just One Can of Soda a Day Raises Aggressive Cancer Risk By 40 Percent

Men who drink one 300ml can of soda per day are much more likely to require treatment for a serious form of cancer than those who never consumed the drink.

A 15-year study found those who drank 300ml of a fizzy drink a day — slightly less than a standard can — were 40 percent more likely to develop prostate cancer than men who avoid the drinks.

Worryingly, the risk applied not to early-stage disease that was spotted via blood tests but to cancers that had progressed enough to cause symptoms. (more…)

Autism Linked to High-Fructose Corn Syrup

Anna Hunt, Contributing Writer
Waking Times

A recent study published in the journal Clinical Epigenetics reveals that high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), which is a highly-processed chemical sweetener used in many processed foods and beverages, has been identified as a major factor in the rise of autism in the United States.

The rise of autism spectrum disorders in the United States has been staggering.

“The number of children ages 6 to 21 in the United States receiving special education services under the autism disability category increased 91% between 2005 to 2010 while the number of children receiving special education services overall declined by 5%.” – Dufault et al. 19 Ways Cancer Becomes the Ultimate Soft-Kill Operation

In earlier times it was easier to control a million people than physically to kill a million people. Today it is infinitely easier to kill a million people then to control a million people. – Zbigniew Brzezinski (Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg Group, Carter/Obama Advisor).

The cancer epidemic is a soft-kill operation and a move by the world’s so-called elites to cull the human population. It is well documented that the Club of Rome, Bill Gates, Ted Turner, the Rockefellers, Warren Buffet and many other globalists plan to dominate and decimate humanity with their population reduction agenda. High Fructose Corn Syrup Associated With Liver Disease

Liver scarring is associated with consumption of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), according to a study at Duke University. The condition, dubbed non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is present in about 30% of all American adults. Until recently, it was considered rare.

Fatty liver disease, whether alcohol-related or not, is a dangerous condition that indicates an overworked and damaged liver. It can lead to cirrhosis, hepatitis, liver cancer, and liver failure.

Manal Abdelmalek, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology, Duke University Medical Center, led the study’s research team. They analyzed questionnaires given to 427 adults after liver biopsies showing NAFLD. The questionnaires asked about their consumption of fructose-containing beverages. They found a correlation between severity of disease and amount of HFCS consumption. (more…)

High Fructose Corn Syrup Injures the Brain; DHA Offsets Damage

Average Americans toss their health in the trash bin, accomplishing this feat by consuming 35 pounds of high fructose corn syrup per year. Don’t expect them to have enough intelligence on their own to figure out this behavior is wrong, as the latest animal study suggests they may be too dumb to figure it out.

UCLA researchers trained mice to run a complex maze. Then they fed them high fructose death syrup for six weeks. A special group of mice also got to consume omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA.  (more…)

HFCS explained: Here’s why it’s far more dangerous to your health than table sugar

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a popular sweetener because it is chemically different from sugar — it has a longer shelf life and mixes better into beverages. Yet the corn industry likes to downplay these differences, pointing out that sugar is 50 percent fructose and 50 percent glucose, while HFCS is 55 percent fructose and 45 percent glucose. (more…)

Soda Damages Your Heart, Contains Carcinogenic Ingredients

sodascan 210x131 Soda Damages Your Heart, Contains Carcinogenic IngredientsSoda is one of the most popular soft drinks of our time. Unfortunately, along with the increased popularity comes a number of increased health risks. Most sodas contain very large quantities of sugar. This sugar often comes in some refined form, like high-fructose corn syrup, which is even more dangerous than regular sugar and is known to contain mercury. (more…)
