Coconut oil was victimized during that era of erroneous dogma that demonized saturated fats, including butter, and created the unhealthy trans-fatty acid hydrogenated unsaturated fat industry, which included margarine. Saturated fats have been resurrected from the trash bin of forbidden foods over the past decade or so with proven health merits.
Now that the fog of junk science dogma has lifted, more and more health conscious folks are finding saturated fats, especially coconut oil, are beyond just safe. They are healthy and medicinal. Several published but unpublicized studies have been conducted and are in progress regarding palm or coconut oil’s medicinal properties.
One of the most profound studies that you probably haven’t read or heard about involves cancer. It was conducted by Australian researchers and published in the January 2014 journal Chemotherapy under “experimental chemotherapy”. It was an in vitro (test tube, petri dish) study on human colon or colorectal cancer cells.
Colorectal or colon cancer has the second highest death rate of all cancers and is the third most commonly diagnosed. (more…)
The Diet Dictocrats told us to drop butter decades ago and switch to a so-called healthier substitute called margarine made with what they claimed would be less harmful polyunsaturated fats. Their promise was it would prevent disease. People around the globe questioned this advice, especially those who have valued butter for its life-sustaining properties for millennia. Today we know that butter is light years healthier than margarine ever could be. It’s a lesson to never go against the wisdom of our ancestors and always distrust corporate and malicious propaganda designed to generate profits not health.
One of the most misguided food myths getting perpetuated nowadays, sadly even by some alternative practitioners, is that dairy is unhealthy to consume.
One reason for the popularity of this modern notion is the skyrocketing incidence of dairy allergies. However, in most cases, these problems are due to the processing (pasteurization/homogenization) of the dairy and/or the unnatural GMO feed given to the cows, not to the dairy itself. When people consume unprocessed dairy from healthy cows grazing on green grass, suddenly the “allergies” disappear. For example, 85% of those who are “lactose intolerant” have absolutely no problem with raw dairy!
Could “lactose intolerance” more aptly be described then as “pasteurization intolerance”? I, for one, definitely think so! (more…)
For many years we have been told that the saturated fats eaten by our ancestors are behind heart disease. The answer was substitution of highly processed polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs), the most common of which are the vegetables oils, shortenings and margarine. During the 50 years that we embraced this advice, incidence of heart disease has skyrocketed. Now a new study from Australia has produced some stunning conclusions about saturated fats and heart disease — conclusions that say it’s time to start eating real fats again. (more…)
