Chronic Hepatitis C: The Hidden Epidemic

Definition of the Problem
On August 17, 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released recommendations for testing all persons in the US born between 1945 and 1965 for hepatitis C infection.1 The Baby Boomer generation has been targeted because the CDC has determined that 75% of all chronic hepatitis C cases are between 47 and 67 years of age and the prevalence is five times higher in this age group than in any other.1 (more…)
