Atomic iodine, also known as atomidine and nascent iodine, is considered the safest and most effective iodine supplement available. Unlike elemental (or molecular) iodine which is toxic, this form of iodine holds its atomic structure making it safe for consumption and topical use. This atomic structure is the same form of iodine the body creates from dietary iodine, making atomic iodine a highly bioavailable supplement.
There are many published studies on the relationship between coconut oil, metabolism and weight loss. Research shows that coconut oil contains unique fatty acids that stimulate metabolism, supply the body with tremendous energy, and promote weight loss. Most people are unaware that hypothyroidism is an autoimmune disease and this is one of the main reasons why conventional pharmaceutical treatments are ineffective for more than 80 percent of patients with sluggish thyroids.
Why Thyroid Medication Does Not Work
Taking replacement thyroid hormones without addressing the underlying immune imbalance is like trying to change the type of oil in your engine with the hope that your transmission will stop failing…useless.
The ultimate effect of hypothyroidism, whether it’s caused by iodine deficiency or autoimmunity, is to decrease the amount of thyroid hormone available to the body. The conventional approach is to simply replace these hormones with either synthetic or bio-identical forms.

Before the development of lab testing, most physicians had to rely on the art of medicine to diagnose and treat. They had to come to grips with their underlying insecurities and infallibility, and fall back on their art, mind, and intuition. This required listening to the patient as well as doing an examination. As technology evolved however, we have abdicated this responsibility to technology — resulting in great harm to our patients. Suzy is a 59 year old post menopausal woman with low thyroid function. About three months ago, she started her bio-identical hormone program which included natural thyroid pills. After starting the program, she was doing well with more energy, better sleep, improved appearance of skin and hair, and resolution of her menopausal symptoms of flashes and sweats. However about 12 weeks into her program, Suzy had a visit with her primary care doctor who did a follow up thyroid panel. Her primary care doctor informed Suzy that her TSH test result was below the lab normal range, and therefore, her thyroid dose was too high, and should be reduced. (Note: TSH is Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, and is made by the pituitary gland) (more…)

What do pregnancy and an underactive thyroid have to do with each other?
These are two seemingly unrelated conditions. However, postpartum hypothyroidism is more common than most people think and does not always show up in traditional thyroid blood tests that only test for thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). If you feel you have hypothyroid symptoms, but your blood TSH levels are normal, you may want to investigate other factors that could point to an underactive thyroid and lead to an effective treatment protocol.
